Ten prisoners of the prison of Ngozi have escaped on April 1, 2006 around 9:00 P.M. Some of them were accused of assassination and others of robbery.

At the time of the escape, it was raining heavily and the prisoners had switched off the light to facilitate the escape. They climbed over the wall and the police noticed it late the next morning.

Nevertheless, let us mention that policemen who guard the prison had suspected it. They accuse the Director of the prison of having been careless and should have taken suitable measures to prevent it from happening.

Indeed, since in certain time, the prisoners had refused to spend night in their cells. Moreover, the switches of the outside lamps are inside the cells and it is the prisoners themselves who switch them off and it is what they did to escape unseen..

Let’s recall that two other prisoners had escaped from the same prison on March25, 2006 when they were out to split wood. Another detainee had escaped in the night of the 1st January, 2006.
