Habonimana Egide was arrested by the police on Tuesday, June 6, 06 in Kigwena zone of the commune of Rumonge in Bururi province. He was accused of having incited he population to hatred.

According to Ndayisaba Léopold , the administrator of the commune of Rumonge, the detainee had spread false rumours to up rise the population to hatred by producing and distributing leaflets which warn the non natives of the commune of Rumonge of being subjects of a mass killing which is being planned by natives.

According to the same source, in doing so, Egide Habonimana, was intending to create a confusing situation which would allow him to get back his land. In fact, as the communal administrator said, Egide was one of the angriest protestors who was against the Gatakwa land distribution.

However, there is no information from the victim to confirm or reject these charges.
