Thursday morning on June 29, 2006 around half past eight, a fire broke out in the market of Ngozi burning down kiosks and what was in. This fire was caused by the palm oil which burnt when a salesman was heating it.

According to the salesmen of this market, the losses may be estimated to more or less fifteen million francs. It is neither exaggerating to say that at least 1/3 of the kiosks of the market was destroyed. The most losers are mainly the salesmen of food, clothes... Moreover, one man and a child were found dead.

As the kiosks were made of wood, it was not easy to extinguish the fire. The police and the RCIC helped a lot in that task. It is the 3rd time that the market of Ngozi catches fire since 2000.
