A group of five bandits armed with a rifle and grenades stole in three households in the commune of Gihanga at night July 23, 2006. They stole on the whole a sum of 125.000 Francs, respectively 107.000 Franc from Runigi, 14.000 Francs from Kidumu and 4.000Francs from Bosco. They also tried to break into a shop but without success.
In the same night, another group of armed persons broke into the Diocesan Office of Development located in the town centre of Bubanza province. They stole from there 129 hoes, 94 covers and 43 peaks. The diocese of Bubanza had received these agricultural tools from the Catholic Relief Service (CRS).
