The Palipehutu-Fnl armed movement is recruiting new militants in Cankuzo province.
On July 7, 2006, three persons were arrested, a primary school headmaster of Minyare and two secondary school teachers of Muyaga. They were suspected of being militants of the Palipehutu-Fnl armed movement.
The primary education Principal fore-mentioned Hilaire, was arrested on his way home and the two secondary school teachers, Barutwanayo Oscar and Pancrace, were also arrested when they were back home from a communal college of Minyare where they work as part-time teachers. All these three people were released the next day.
Another group of 25 people who were in a bus had been arrested in the town centre of the province of Cankuzo on June 16, 2006. After the investigation, they find out that they were going to Makebuko, in Gitega province, to saw boards. They were then released the following day.
It is reported that the recruitment of new militants in the Palipehutu - Fnl movement goes on in Cankuzo province. The majority of the suspected people are generally young people of whom the hoseboys, jobless persons and demobilized combatants.Some of them are caught with membership cards.
