A 16 year old girl, Irakoze Florence, strangled with a rope a six year old neighbour, Mustaki Jeannine, in afternoon of August 29, 06 around 16h30. They live in the district of Mushaha II in Gatumba in the commune of Mutimbuzi in the province of Bujumbura rural.

The perpetrator of the crime told the police that she first called her victim to join her in the house and then asked another 8 years old child, Ndayisenga, to go and bring her a cord with which she strangled Jeannine.

According to Florence, she was going to sell the cord to 400.000 Francs to tradesmen who, according to the superstition, believe that a cord used to strangle a person has a magic power which enables them to succeed in businesses.
