Torrential rains caused enormous damage in the zones of Mivo and Mubuga of the commune and province Ngozi. It was Saturday on April 2, 2005 around 2:00 pm after midday.
According to the administrative sources of Ngozi commune, 6000 houses were seriously damaged by this heavy rain. Houses and plantations were seriously damaged. Cattle and people have also been affected by this heavy windy rain.
Roofs of the houses were taken off by violent wind and plantations were destroyed by the hail storm.
According to the administrator of Ngozi commune, 3228 houses were destroyed in the zone of Mivo and 2789 other houses in Mubuga zone. Three people were seriously wounded by falling walls.
The administrator of Ngozi commune made a call to the local and international humanitarian organizations working in Ngozi urging them to rescue the distressed population.
