The security situation does not improve at all in the province of Bubanza as shows it the numerous cases of assassinations, armed robberies which are reported in the different places of the province.

October 29, 2006, Barumbaje Gerard was assassinated at his home at Kigereka by unidentified persons armed with machetes. In the same night, a child was killed accidentally by his father in the village III in Gihanga commune when the aforementioned father wanted to get rid of a grenade in his possession. He threw it carelessly on his child who died.

October 28, 2006, other armed bandits attacked families respectively at Ruhororo and Tonganya, in the commune of Bubanza. In Ruhororo, they attacked the residence of Nicintije Protais and in Tonganya, they attacked two families where they stole money and other home goods.

October 27, 2006, Ciza Nyandwi of Muramba in the commune of Bubanza was assassinated with a machete by people who accused him of sorcery.
