Criminality reached its peak in the province of Muramvya, especially in the communes of Kiganda, Muramvya and Bukeye, where between 12th October and 6th November, 14 people have either been killed, bewitched or became victims of acts of revenge or armed robbery. The Kiganda commune is leading with 8 deaths, followed by the Bukeye commune where 5 people have been assassinated.

In Kiganda Commune, 5 children of one family died one after another. The victim, Ngezahayo, lives in Matyazo and his children have been bewitched by his neighbour who wanted to revenge his dog which had been killed by Ngezahayo. The first child died on 14th October 2006, the others followed one after another.

In the same commune, at Kayange, 3 other people have been victims of revenge. The victims, Gakobwa Sylvane, her daughter Bernadine and a visitor died in a plot planned by Sylvane’s daughter in law, who had been advised not to continue pregnancy after her husband’s death.

In Bukeye commune two people have been shot in Kigereka in the night of November 9th 2006. The victims Havyarimana and his daughter Mugisha have been assassinated by a certain Charles who was accompanied by his son and a soldier from Gweteto position. The crimes motive is said to be a land conflict.

On 12th October 2006 Nimubona Amédée killed his houseboy Nibaruta Claude. Two others named Rurakenyereza Cyprian and Ntahiraja Evariste have been killed by armed bandits in Rweteto on 8th and 21st October 06. In Muramvya commune Manirakiza Serge was killed by bandits on 19th October 2006. Assumingly a police officer was involved in the crime.
