Since some months ago some organised groups of bandits which are based in Bujumbura undertake armed robberies within the communes of Bukeye and Muramvya in the province of Muramvya. The police had some information concerning these groups but had no proof to arrest them. However, Saturday evening, 11th November 2006, one of the groups was trapped by the police in Muramvya.
A group composed of two policemen, one soldier and one civilian all armed with Kalashnikovs, was arrested when they were just about to mug two traders, Gasongo and Kadogo in Muramvya.
The two involved policemen are Mr Nishimirimana, the chief of the police post of of Buterere and Nduwimana Claude of the Socarti-Camp in Kamenge. The soldier is from Kamenge-Camp, and is called Miburo Venant.
