World AIDS Day this year will take place under the banner of responsibility, that of politicians and of the public. With the theme “Stop AIDS. Keep the promise”, a series of events is taking place on every continent.
Approximately 40 million people are currently living with HIV infection, 4.3 million of whom were infected in 2006. What a sad record! It’s precisely to reverse this trend that UNAIDS and the World AIDS Campaign are mobilising around the same theme as last year.
A series of measures is planned to raise public awareness. Posters in public transport, on advertising hoardings and in the media. Universities and schools will also contribute. They will give classes on preventing the disease.
