Prices of some food products are falling in the market of Rumonge.
Some food products in the market of Rumonge are becoming more and more available. They are shipped from the neighbouring countries, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.
Every Monday and Thursday of each week, boats containing rice, beans and flour accost on the port of Rumonge coming from the neighbouring countries. There is also charcoal from the island of Ubwari.
The first advantages of this commercial exchanges are the significant fall of the prices of these food products. For instance, one kilo of beans which cost BiF700 francs costs BiF 500 francs today, that of rice fell from BiF 750 Francs to BiF600 and that of corn from BiF 500 to BiF400 francs.
A bag of charcoal which cost BIF 7,000 two weeks ago costs BiF 5,000 now.
