Burundi joined the world to celebrate the international woman’s day.
Burundi joined other countries of the world to celebrate the international woman’s day on March 8, 2007. This day arrives at the time when the woman in Burundi is victim a lot of violence made at home and outside.
At that day, M.S.F Belgique took the opportunity to organize close to the central Market of Bujumbura a two hour demonstration to denounce and sensitize Burundians to fight against violence made to women and to put an end to impunity of the perpetrators of violence.
During this demonstration songs were sung and traditional dances performed, victims of violence talked of what had happened to them.
Let us mention that the most atrocious violations were reported these last days when a man cruelly beat his wife until putting pepper to her on the most sensitive parts of her body such in the mouth, the ears and even in the sex in the urban district of Musaga. Another woman was burned in her house in commune of Mutimbuzi on Thursday, March 1st,2007.
