A police officer called Nkaza of the police of domestic security of Gikizi in Vugizo commune in the province of Makamba tortured on March 8, 2007 a prisoner of the dungeon of Gikizi, Nyandwi Fidel, accusing him of having defamed him.
The victim had escaped from the dungeon where he was held accused of robbery. On March 8, 2007, the escaped prisoner was seen by the torturer, Nkaza, during a burial. He brought him back in the dungeon where he was tortured by the same police officer.
The true reason would be that the victim would have revealed that he had corrupted the police and the police officer considered it as a slandering.
The victim was tortured in the presence of the administrator and some of his communal advisers who right away reacted to prevent the police to go on torturing the victim. They even facilitated his transfer to Makamba.
Another case of torture occurred on March 10th, 2007 around 11am when a person who was accused of having stolen in the Inter Bank branch in Makamba was tortured right after his arrest by an officer from the local office of the national intelligence service.
What is abnormal is that the some torturer made investigations on the case whereas he was not allowed to do it.
Another police officer of the police of domestic security in Makamba tortured an agent of city security in Makamba, Niyonkuru Fabien. The victim was from Mbizi in Kibago commune. The victim was arrested on March 9, 2007, then was held in the dungeon of the police station of Makamba. The next morning, the policeman called the detainee in his office where he tortured during one hour and half.
The victim was wrongly accused of having attempted to steal a weapon to one of his men. But according to the victim, the true reason was that the torturer was involved in shootings in a refreshment bar and wanted that the victim accuse another policeman of having done it so that the torturer may appear to be innocent.
