Several cases of non desired pregnancies are reported in Ruyigi province. The majority of the victims are pupils of the secondary and some cases in the primary education.

Since the beginning of the school year 2006-2007, 41 cases have been reported with 6 pupils in the primary education and all these teenagers left school.

Some among those who are presumed to be authors of these pregnancies are young boys who promise to take in marriage these girls, and who change their mind once they note that their “fiancees” are pregnant.
