A teacher of the communal college of Kirundo, Bukuru Tharcice, raped a pupil of 5th form. Bukuru Tharcice, who is the French teacher of the victim, pretended to give an evening course to her in order to get facilities of getting in the residence of the pupil.

 After they had noticed that she is pregnant, Bukuru signed on November 9, 2004, a document in which he declared having had sexual intercourse with her and promised to take her as wife as soon as he will have gathered financial means necessary to marry her.  

In the letter of January 25, 2005 that Bukuru wrote to the director of the communal college of Kirundo in reply to his letter of disciplinary action, he accepted that had sexual intercourse with the victim, and consciously, but he insisted on the fact that the girl had already given up her studies at that time.

He added that she had left the school because she had a very low level to continue her studies and was rather preparing her for a marriage. 

The girl had left the school by the end of September 2004 and has a 7 month pregnancy, which is in contradiction with the assertion of Bukuru according to which these relations took place after she had left the school. Moreover, her parents had made an arrangement with Bukuru, in the presence of an OPJ, Gahungu Mathias, so that he was going to marry her, reason why there had been no legal action taken against him.
