The Governor of the Central Bank has been arrested.
The Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Burundi (BRB), Isaac Bizimana, was arrested on Saturday August 4, 2007. He had been under a warrant arrest issued by the Attorney General of the Republic on Friday August 3,07 and the police arrested him the next day.
According to the Attorney General of the Republic, his arrest is connected to the InterPetrol case. The aim of his imprisonment might be to prove that Burundian justice is well doing his duty.
