The security situation goes worse and worse in the province of Bubanza.
On 29th August 2007, the security situation worsened in many areas of the Bubanza province. Armed groups, who mighty be combatants of the Palipehutu - Fnl attacked and plundered in the communes of Mpanda, Bubanza and Musigati, reported administrative and military sources.
In the commune of Mpanda, armed groups plundered in all the families of Kabere locality. After plundering, they headed for the Kibira forest. Besides the robbed goods, no human lives loss has been reported.
In the same night, other attacks were reported in the commune of Bubanza.
The first attack took place around 8 at Ciya in the zone of Muramba where armed bandits stole a cow and then headed to the Kibira forest. The second attack took place one hour later when a group of armed elements robbed at Kampene. The police intervened and they fled back without having stolen. At the same time, another group attacked at Giko in the zone of Bubanza
Other attacks took place on Tuesday evening in the commune of Mpanda. During the attack, two bandits namely Havyarimana Prosper and Sinzinkayo Eugène, were wounded by the police. They are JPH members, Hutu patriotic youth movement but they say to be combatants of the Palipehutu Fnl armed movement. Other robberies were committed at Butanuka and Gifurwe where they stole BiF 800,000.
Around 30 combatants who had deserted from the Palipehutu movement who were at Kibuye military position in Rugazi zone have been transferred in Mpanda commune centre for security reasons. According to the deserters, the Palipehutu-Fnl combatants were about to attack them in the near future days.
