On October 2nd, 2007, fighters of Palipehutu- Fnl led by Rwasa located in the natural forest of Kibira fought each other and the result was two killed combatants among whom a chief of company, Niyongabo Richard and another combatant who was injured.

Since this incident, about fifty combatants deserted and surrundered to the police in Bubanza province for protection and saying that they give up the war. These fugitive brought a few weapons because since the movement of surrundering started, fighters are disarmed so that they do not desert with weapons from the movement.

Three other chiefs of company, Nestor, Waliyoba and Pamphile fled with their men and took the direction of Kayanza province. Ambushes and armed robberies are reported in particular in Kagwema, at the border between the provinces of Bubanza and Cibitoke, but it is not known if it is those elements of Palipehutu-Fnl in escape who are responsible for that.
