The call made by the trade union representatives for a strike has been followed in most of public services
The call that the representatives of the confederated trade unions have made for a three day strike has been heard in some public services especially in Bujumbura capital. The strike was launched on Monday December 3rd, 2007 and the work will resume on Thursday the 6th.
In Bujumbura, most of the offices were empty and public classes of primary schools were closed while the secondary school teachers have postponed the strike because secondary school students are taking their first term exams.
Though they have the same claims, the nursing personnel has not followed the strike movement either because they had just resumed the work some days ago after a long strike.
Let’s call that the trade unions claim the salary rise of 34 per cent as promised by the Head of the State in July 2007. They also claim the implementation of the general staff Regulation of the civil servants.
