On July 1st, 2008 at about 19 hours, a group of persons who were drunk fought with knives, truncheons and stones in Muremera quarter in Ngozi town centre.

Gatiro, one of the victims died on the way to hospital whereas ten others seriously wounded were having medical care in Ngozi hospital.

Those persons had drunk “Ikibarube”, a forbidden drink which currently causes so many damages in Ngozi province. On June 23rd 2008 about 17 hours and half, a policeman who had drunk it, killed a person in Kinyami locality in the same province. The suspected criminal is currently detained at Ngozi prison.
