The slow down in negotiations between the Government and Palipehutu-Fnl has heavy consequences on the population of Bujumbura- rural province
According to people living the surroundings of Gasarara site in Nyabiraba commune where the Palipehutu-Fnl combatants are confined and in Gatwenzi in Muhuta commune in Bujumbura - rural province, the population are in dilemma.
In fact, the slow down in the negociation between the government and the Palipehutu-Fnl has a heavy consequence on the population.
Some of the problems they are having is that their plantations of bananas, cassavas and trees are being destroyed by these Palipehutu-Fnl combatants who are in these sites.
The situation got even worse by the time Agathon Rwasa, the Palipehutu-Fnl leader, asked the surrounding population to help his combatants with food, precising that the government of Burundi had stopped supplying them with food. The population of Bujumbura- rural said to be fed up of supplying food and paying forced taxes to the combatants.
The population asks the facilitation team and the Political Directory to do what is necessary in order to resume negotiations between the two parties.
According to last news, it is reported that the government will start again to supply the Palipehutu-Fnl combatants with food from this Tuesday July 15th, 2008.
