Three policemen in Kirundo claims to be victims of injustice.

On June 9th 08, three policemen among them a sergeant and two policemen of the Burundi National Police reported to the Kirundo section of the Burundian Human Rights organization ‘‘Ligue Iteka’’ that they are victims of injustice since some months. In fact, they are not being paid for months and they had not been informed why. The sergeant’s wage has been cut off since February and the other two policemen have not received theirs since April 2008. After having contacted the police authorities in kirundo province, the sergeant learnt that he had been suspended by since January but it is only in July 3rd that he learnt it. Concerning the two other policemen, the Ligue Iteka section in Kirundo was told that it was by mistake that their wages were cut off following an error classification by which they were listed among demobilized policemen while they are always on the waiting list of the candidates to be demobilized. According to the police authorities at kirundo, the two policemen will be restored in their rights.
