The Swiss foundation of mine clearance organizes since April 2005 a national investigation on the impact of the mines in Burundi. According to the representative of the foundation, the investigation will make it possible to identify mined zones and will help for successful clearing operation for mines eradication.

Let’s mention that there are lot victims of mines in Burundi following the civil war. The provinces of Ruyigi, Rutana and Makamba are already identified as being suspected mined zones.
