Soldiers in patrol shoot at bandits and kill a policeman in Rumonge.
A policeman of the National Police, Havyarimana Hassan, was killed by soldiers in patrol on Saturday November 12, 2005 around 7 PM.in the village of Gatete in Rumonge in Bururi province.
According to military sources, this policeman was in company of 4 other bandits who were heading to the lake Tanganika where they were going to steal fishing equipments. On their way, they met soldiers in patrol, who then shot at them, killing the policeman right way. The four other bandits managed to escape.
According to the same sources, these bandits have ambushed vehicles on the road Bururi- Rumonge these last days, the latest being that of November 11, 2005 when a police van was sifted by ballets, close to the natural reserve of Rumonge.
