weapons were seized in the urban district of Mutakura in Cibitoke commune.

The national police seized some weapons: a Kalashnikov rifle, four grenades, a lot of ballets, two spears and two swords, on December 3, 2005 in Mutakura district of Cibitoke commune in the town of Bujumbura.

These weapons were seized in the house of Déo Ndayegamiye, member of the PARENA party but also member of the communal council of Cibitoke, at the 11th avenue n° 16. He was immediately taken to the commune office with all the seized weapons. Ndayegamiye was then put in the dungeon at Cibitoke and then transfered to the intelligence services for interrogation.

Some people met at Cibitoke commune office said that keeping a weapon at one’s home for self defence is nowdays somehow allowed. so they find it reasonable since Déo lives unsafe place and since the security situation continues to worsen. Others find it unfair that he be denounced by some of his colleagues of the communal council that he hiself is a member.

Let’s mentione that in the same morning, the police has arrested more than 200 suspected persons from the 12th to 16th avenue of the Mutakura district in order to identify them.

After their identification, 30 of them had not identity cards but only 5 of them, being more suspious, were detained. The others were let free, has said the a police officer at Cibitoke.
