The misbehaviour of some policemen in the province of Kirundo does not reassure the population.
Some elements of the police in the province of Kirundo disturb security especially in the province centre town. The coming and going movements of the policemen in uniforms and weapons, gun shootings and explosions of grenades during night do not reassure the population.
On November 24, 2005 in the evening, a criminal launched a grenade against a tradesman, Ntukibitabo Charles, who died away and until now the criminals are not yet identified. However, some people say that at the time of this assassination, there were some policemen nearby the place of the crime and they did not rescue under the pretext of not being suspected.
However, one of the suspected perpetrators of the crime, Aubert, affirms that the true perpetrator is a policeman.
On the 27th of the same month, a policeman quarrelled with a bar owner in Kirundo for a simple matter of a chair. To avoid getting problems, the innkeeper got into the refreshment bar. The policeman got angry and started shooting in the air causing panic among the persons who were having their glass and the neighbouring population.
On November 30, at night, gun shootings were heard in Murama, to one km from the centre of Kirundo and it was soldiers who were drunk.
Other cases of misbehaviour were reported and this kind of behaviour does not reassure the population.
