Two small girls were raped in the communes of Gatara and Matongo in the province of Kayanza respectively on February 9 and 10, 2006.

The first victim, a 10 year old girl was raped by a 25 year old man, Nizigiyimana Zebulon at Mudusi in Mbirizi zone of the commune of Gatara on Thursday, February 9, around 7 when she was on her way home from Gatora. Knowing that he was wanted, the rapper fled the next day.

The second victim, a 8 year old child, was raped on Friday February 10, around 6:30 at Musongo, Kabuye zone in the commune of Matongo by a 20 year old young man, Mariyeko Désiré. The rapist is held at the police station of Matongo, Kayanza province.
