Hungry people of the provinces of Muyinga and Kirundo continue to flee towards other provinces
Hungry people of the provinces of Muyinga and Kirundo continue to flee towards other neighbouring provinces such as Cankuzo where they hope to find a little food.
Last week, 86 people arrived in the commune and province of Cankuzo. Another group of more or less 50 people arrived this Monday on February 20, 2006.
All these people who fled the famine were accomodated in a reception centre of Cankuzo. They have not got any assistance except little food for few days that they received from a NGO “Solidarités”.
Many of these migrants are new repatriates who did not have where to settle. They are searching what to eat but unfortunately, the population of the province of Cankuzo are also hungry and cannot help. The prices of food rises all the time.
